Who would have thought?

You are The Lovers

Motive, power, and action, arising from Inspiration and Impulse.

The Lovers represents intuition and inspiration. Very often a choice needs to be made.

Originally, this card was called just LOVE. And that's actually more apt than "Lovers." Love follows in this sequence of growth and maturity. And, coming after the Emperor, who is about control, it is a radical change in perspective. LOVE is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can't understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. And that is what this card is all about. Finding something or someone who is so much a part of yourself, so perfectly attuned to you and you to them, that you cannot, dare not resist. This card indicates that the you have or will come across a person, career, challenge or thing that you will fall in love with. You will know instinctively that you must have this, even if it means diverging from your chosen path. No matter the difficulties, without it you will never be complete.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

Something strange outside my window!

I can't really describe it but it looked awfully familiar. Something you would remember in a dream would be the best way to describe it. It was big and warm. The light that came off of it at first hurt my eyes but soon they grew accustom to it's brilliant sparkle. I was a little weary to go outside thinking that this event, for lack of a better word, could harm me in someway. So I raced for my television and turned on the local news to see if this phenomenon wasn't happening only out my window or throughout the city of New York. The nice lady meteorologist explained what was going on and say we should all go outside and partake in this rare occurrence cause tomorrow it would be gone. So I dressed appropriately and went forth into the light.

Oh, I found out what this object in the sky was called.....THE SUN!

Hey! You would forget what the sun looks like too what all the rain we've been having. Hope you guys enjoyed the warmth and the light today.

Which Goddess lurks in your soul?

Nyx is the Greek Goddess of the Night and inhabits those souls who desire darkness. Not necessarily an evil or good person, you simply desire to surround yourself in all things mystical that inhabit the night time landscape. A fascination with the stars and celestial bodies also tends to accompany those whom Nyx has taken up residence in. Embrace the darkness baby because it’s already embraced you!

Click Here to Take This Quiz

Quizzes and Personality Tests

Remembering 9-11

I went down to Ground Zero today. Even though I personally didn't lose anyone on that horrible day I still have the need to go there and share in this city collective grief. I visited Trinity Church, the one used by the firefighters and recuse workers to receive comfort and a place to rest. It is still a functioning church but it's now more of a shrine to that day and those who answered the call for help. I sat there for awhile and remembered how it was back in 2001 when the city and the people were in shock. I remember seeing people from all over the country and world literally pouring into lower Manhattan aching to show their support and love to every New Yorker they came across. It was like been covered in this blanket of tenderness and protection, and speaking for myself I took it in greedily with no desire of letting go.
It's now seven years later and you would think that this intensely is no longer around. Life moves on and so does the city, but that are sweet surprises. As I sat there I started to cry as the memories of that day filled me. Suddenly a young woman approached me and asked if I would like to pray with me. I nodded yes because I didn't trust my voice. She quietly sat next to me and prayed softly and gently. I felt that blanket wrapped around me again. Afterward we talked and she told me her name was Olivia and is from Texas and now attending NYU. We talked for and awhile and then exchanged e-mails. Olivia told me even though she knew people from her classes she hasn't made any friends. I told her she has one now. She smiled.
Why am I telling you this story? I really don't know. I guess I want to mark this day for myself. That sometimes something good can come out from something horrible.

I'll end with these words of Laurence Binyon from his poem, "For The Fallen"

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them”.

Shadow of Life

Two years ago I wrote this to express what it's like to live with arthritis. As of this day it's been 22 years it's been apart of my life and I can safely say there were days it's no joy ride. But what really prompted me to write this was the quote that begins it. I heard it say over the radio one day and It made me mad. To assume that life is basically over because of a disability is both nonsense and insulting. True arthritis has made my life a bit more harder than most but I HAVE lived and enjoyed some of it's sweetest.

So this poem, for lack of a better word, is my declaration of me and my life. I offer it up to you now. To give some insight of what it takes to fight each day in order to live a life.

SHADOW OF LIFE

“The moral test of a society is how society treats those who are in the dawn of life--the children; those who are in the twilight of life--the elderly; and those who are in the shadow of life--the sick, the needy, and the handicapped”.

Hubert H. Humphrey
January 6, 1967
Buffalo, New York

Welcome to life in the shadows.
It’s my life.
I laid claim to it.
The silence of the void is my new best friend.

I live alone in the shadows.
People come and visit for awhile
but they don’t stay long.
It’s the stillness.
They’re not comfortable in it.

I’ve gotten used to it.
Being with myself---
within myself.
Experiencing in solitude,
the passionate war that rages on.
Got no choice---
that was taken away long ago.

Screams echoing within as I stand.
No one hears them.
Only me.

Muscles
weary from contrast battle
moving into position
to resemble the facade of a human body.

Joints
burning like lava,
protest the order to move.
The mind overrules.
It has to.

Remaining still is NOT an option.
It can never be.
I’ve forgotten what it’s like not to be like this.
Memories fade and new realities moves in.

Was I ever NOT like this?

I walk across the room
feeling each ounce of weight stiffing
on the balls of my feet,
demanding this shell to move
in quiet determination.

Living in the shadows is not dark or cool place.
It’s blinding.
It's burning.
And every nerve within this human casing
screeches out when we travel...

“NO!”

“DON’T!”

“I WON’T DO THAT!”

While in my mind I howls back...

“YES!”

“MOVE!”

“WE WILL!”

No one can understand
the
Oneness
of
Me
against
Me.

Fingers stiff and swollen can bearing make a fist,
but they can still touch
and be touched.

Hands that may no longer be strong
can still caress a cheek,
stoke a brow,
or hold a beloved’s hand.

Arms may not be straight or graceful as a ballerina
but they can still comfort a child on a stormy night
or hold a lover close in a heated embrace.

But this is not a plead for acceptance--
nor a request for understanding.
This is a Proclamation!!!

I EXIST!!!

I AM STRONG!!!

I WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT!!!

I SING a new version of the BODY ELECTRIC!!!
One that would make the singer and the poet bust out with pride!

I am the Goddess of Uniqueness!
I am a Template of Nonconformity!

There is NOTHING I cannot achieve!

So if you see me hobbling down the street
with my stiff leg...
unbalance....
but demure,
with the look of concentration on my brow---
don’t feel sorry for me.

Each step I take represents
My Will...
My Desire...
My Strength...

My Fire is all consuming!!!

Even the fires of Pompeii grow cold and pale by my comparison!

My Light reaches up to the heights of Heaven,
to have even GOD turn towards His Angels,
point His finger down to Earth
and say...

“THAT’S MY GIRL!!!”

The shadows does not consume me.

I consume the shadows.

So if you see me
and think you can take
advantage of me
in my supposed....
>ahem<
“weaken” state...

I humbly suggest you think again.
You can try.

And you WILL fail.

You...
have been warned.

THE END

(c) February 19, 2005

The Newborn

A few years ago a good friend of mine lead a women's group in New Jersey called, Full Moon Lodge Gathering. I was invited to join their Circle but I had to decline because I lived too far away to attend their weekly meetings. Though the distance was great, another state, they keep me close via e-mails about the news and their achievements. I wanted to give something back. It was the week between New Year's and Three King's Day (Jan.6) I wrote this story and gifted it to the Circle. Only a handful have ever read it. Now it's your turn.

Your thoughts and comments would be welcomed.

Black Dove

THE NEWBORN

The time has come.

The Seven Sisters came from the Four Corners of the Universe to be together on this most holy and blessed night. The distance mattered not to these Wise Women for tonight the Great Event was to take place on this most Sacred Ground and their presence was absolute.

As Grandmother Moon, the Mother of all who lives beneath Her, soared higher into the midnight-blue sky, She is there to give not only witness of the happenings that were occurring below Her, but to the wondrous event which will soon take place with Her in the heavens. The Council slowly entered the Sacred Ground and took their rightful place into the Hallowed Circle.

Each of the Seven, a goddess in her own right, brought gifts to enhance and invest power within The Circle. The Sisters carried the Symbols of Strength and Wisdom from each one’s clan to show both Love and Respect to Those Who Walked Before Us, for without their guidance this night would never be.

The first brought forth a bowl, etched with mythical symbols of pasted times, full with the terra firma of Mother Earth. Within it was buried seeds of great possibilities that will soon spring forth into a new life form.

The second carried different colored bottles of perfume from exotic lands. Their scents filled the air with sweetness that only enriched the heart but the soul as well.

The third Sister opened a blanket within The Circle and from it tumbled out seashells from the Great Ocean Mother. Each shell in it’s shape, size and color told a tale of it’s travels through the Great Sea in order to reach this final place of honor. The largest one, washed clean by the Sea Maidens, shined a brilliant color of pink for it held the voice of the Great Sea Mother within it’s womb.

The forth gently laid within The Circle feathers of every color of the Rainbow. Each one represents a Winged One in their many lengths, styles and sometimes song. For they are the Singers of Messages and Prayers to the Great Mystery from the Earth Children. They were created to fly to the heavens and be close to the Original Source, therefore their feathers must be not only beautiful but strong.

The fifth Sister from her pockets took out and placed in The Circle stones of every design, shape and texture. Each, if looked closely, held a face to it and with it they told a story. Some of the stories were funny or silly while others were sad and thought provoking. But each was a good story because they were truthful and honest and that all the Universe can really ask for in any and all life forms.

The sixth one held a goblet fill of water which came from a river where a Most Holy Being was born and later baptized in it over a century ago. This water was carried by many Sisters across many lands to reach The Circle tonight. And as to mark the end of it’s journey the water was pored into the bowl where the seeds slept to help create Life.

The seventh and final Sister who called the others together tonight held a touch in her hands and from it burned a glorious flame. Fire was her gift. For it not only brought warmth into The
Circle but it was also served as a beckon for those to find their way. This Sister is called She Who Gives Praise and as a final act to close The Circle she traveled around it and lit a smaller version of a torch in front of them. This flame represented the Passion of Life that lives within their hearts.

With this done all the Sisters sat down in The Circle and waited.

Suddenly a small voice came out from within The Circle. It belonged to the daughter of the Wise Women who empowered The Circle with the Gift of Feathers from the Winged Ones. The Young One is what the other Sisters loving called her a “Goddess-In-Training”, since she is still too young to be a Wise Women quietly asked if she too could place a gift with the Sacred Circle. She Who Gives Praise gently smiled and nodded yes. The young daughter brought forth one peacock feather full of color and pride as she respectfully laid it down. When asked why she choose this breed of Winged One, the child replied besides the colorful appearance if one looks closely one could see an eye in the design. To her the ‘eye’ means that Those Who Came Before Us are watching over us and keeping us safe. All the Sisters approved of the Young One’s choose and reason and accepted her gift. She then asked to her Mother and if she could put forth a question to her other ‘Little Mothers’. The Young One’s Mother said yes. She turned to She Who Gives Praise and asked.

“Why is this night so special and different than from the other nights we meet in this Sacred Place? And why this time did we bring offerings and gifts?”

She Who Gives Praise smiled and answered.

“This night happens but once in every generation. This is the night where the heavens recreates itself by bring forth life. Tonight my little one the night sky will open up and with Grandmother Moon as guardian and we as midwives the Universe will give birth to a star. It is a symbol to all Two-Legged Ones that Life is always recreating itself. The Life in all forms can not...will not stand still. That Life and the Universe is always in motion. Ever moving. Never stopping. Always growing. We as the Two-Legged Ones tend to forget this important message so sometimes the Universe sends us reminders of this most important truth “.

“ Can one little star be so important? It is only one among so many”.

“Yes my child one little star can be so important. You are one among many but to us you are the most precious being in the entirely world. There are thousands upon thousands of people who walk in this world, but there in only one you. You are important. You were placed on the Earth and given to your parents for a reason...for a purpose. When you walk your Earthwalk you will discover this reason and better the world for it. This little star, this newborn teaches us this and many more lessons we will discover and understand in time. Life goes on. We live. We learn. We teach. We love. And when it is time we leave this life and begin anew, someplace else. Just like a newborn”.

“And the gifts and offerings Little Mother. What of this?”

“This gifts are to help us unite with this infant star. To teach it, as we have with those who came before it, that life in one big circle. That all those who live within this Sacred Circle, those who live within this Universe, are never alone. Whether they are Two-Legged, Four-Legged, Winged Ones, Those Who Swim, and Those Who Crawl. We are all one and each is important”.

“But why, if this lesson is so important, why is it so easier forgotten?”

“The Two-Legged Ones get caught up in their everyday matters they over look what is right in front of them. We all do. The Road of Life, as we create it for ourselves, could become a series of bumps and pitfalls instead of a smooth pavement because we place on ourselves burdens that do not belong to us. The Great Mystery does not mean for us to do this. It has given us tasks at the moment of out birth that was meant for us to do, no more is needed. But we who are still discovering our true selves sometimes feel the more we do the better it is. But the True Wisdom states it is not “how much” but “how well” we perform each task and for what reason. In short, it is not the end of the journey that counts but our we get there. This Universe shows us that Life is an on going journey with many different roads we were meant to travel on. This is why this night is so special. The Universe is teaching us that Life is constant. It can not stand still. This is against it’s nature and it should be against our nature too. We as a nation of Two-Legged are not finished yet, just like the Universe isn’t finished and the birth of this Newborn proves it”.

As soon as She Who Gives Praise spoke her last word a great white light flashed in the sky. All gazed up to witness a marvelous spectacle of multicolored lights of greens, blues, reds, yellows, and orange danced above their heads while the stars spin about to an unheard melody. The seven remaining sisters planets waltzed around Mother Earth and comets raced across the onyx and purple heavens as if to announce the coming of new life.

But it was Grandmother Moon who the Seven Sisters locked their gaze on a Her as She radiated out shaft a golden light to the exact spot in the sky where the birth was to take place.

At first the Sisters could feel a stillness in the air. Movements and all sounds that were usual within the vicinity of the Sacred Place had ended and in it’s place was a “waiting”. Every Four-Legged and Winged-One turned their attention to the Universe above. Even the Standing Tall Ones stretched open their leafy arms out to the cosmos in anticipation of what's to come.

It was as if a painting from Vincent VanGogh had suddenly come to life as the sky was full of color that were not only brilliant but alive! Colors pulsated like an heartbeat on the spot where Grandmother Moon was sending Her moonbeam. The sky slowly opened itself up and from it came out a faint but determined light. Blinking at a relaxed rate at first, the Newborn quickly picked up speed as it emerged from the Universe’s womb. As any infant the Newborn sought out to find it’s mother’s warmth and see her face, so it began to move closer to Grandmother Moon. Grandmother Moon, overjoyed to see and welcomed Her new child grew to five times her normal size. What the Seven Sisters would soon discover was the reason for Her added size was due to the fact that within Her heavenly body held the Milk of Human Kindness. She would nourish Her child through the moonbeam like an umbilical cord until it was ready it take it’s place within the heavens.

The purpose of why this star was created was simple. People had forgotten how to to kind to one another, so this Newborn is here to reintroduce Humanity to their true nature again. Kindness is not such a difficult thing. The Newborn will remind them that kindness is within them and all around them. That it is not a foolish idea that belongs in the realm of story books and fairy tales but is apart of everyday life. And it should not be pushed away because this simple act maybe considered stupid or be an inconvenience. This little star will help Human beings to ask themselves, “Is this all I could be? Can’t I be more?”, and then help them seek out the answers. It’s “Milky Starlight“ will nourish their desires to know and understand themselves and others better.

As the Seven Sisters beheld the wondrous site of the Universe dancing in completed joy and love. They hugged and each said a silent prayer of thanks of being born at the right time so they could be here to celebrate this new life. The Sisters retook their place within the Sacred Circle and with clasped hands raised above their heads they sang out their blessing in one great voice.

“WELCOME!!! WELCOME LITTLE ONE!!! WELCOME INTO OUR WORLD AND OUR UNIVERSE !!! WE ARE THE WISE WOMEN OF THE LANDS AND WE GREET YOU WITH OPEN ARMS AND HEARTS!!!!”

It was She Who Gives Praise who continued speaking.

“LITTLE ONE! WE HAVE BROUGHT YOU GIFTS FROM OUR CLANS FOR YOU TO CELEBRATE THIS GLORIOUS NIGHT! IT IS TO TEACH YOU THAT YOU ARE APART OF US AS WE ARE APART OF YOU! THERE IS NO “ALONENESS” BUT “ONENESS!” WE ARE APART OF EACH OTHER! WE ARE YOUR FAMILY AS OUR GRANDMOTHER MOON IS YOUR MOTHER! YOUR BIRTH HAS BROUGHT BACK HOPE FOR THIS WORLD AT A TIME MOST NEEDED! WE ARE HERE TO AID YOU IN BRINGING THIS MESSAGE TO ALL THE TWO-LEGGED ONES WHO WILL LISTEN! WE ARE YOUR VOICE!!!!!”

Grandmother Moon, who was watching and listening, sent down a beam of golden and yellow illumination that surrounded each Sister. It was Her way of expressing thanks and gratitude to the Wise Women for showing both love and affection to her child as any mother would. As each Sister was bathed in the light each also received a blessing from Grandmother Moon. The blessing would help them help the Newborn in accomplishing it’s task in aiding Humanity at their time of crisis. The Seven Blessing are:

1) Patience
2) Tolerance
3) Acceptance
4) Humor
5) Empathy
6) Love
7) Hope

The Newborn held the last blessing. It was Faith. All the Two-Legged Ones who walks on the Red Road of Life can and will find the Faith in themselves and in each other to solve all problems and disagreements, if one truly wants to. This power is within them. The power is within all of us. Faith will find the way.

As soon as the blessing was given the night and sky grew quiet. The Great Dance of the Universe has ended as all returned it how it once was. All, of course, except for a brand new beautiful, and ever growing brightly star in the heavens. The Wise Women knew that the ceremony was over. It was time to separate and make the long journey back to their people and tribes. Each Sister turned to the other and wished a good and safe passage back to their homes. It was here where the youngest, their little goddess-in-training, seeked out She Who Gives Praise and asked.

“What will happen now?”

She Who Gives Praise wistfully smiled as she looked up into the sky.

“I am not sure Little One. The Universe rarely tells us it’s plans. We can only accept what they are when it is made known and do the best we can. Remember, the Universe never gives us anything that we cannot handle”.

“So”, the young goddess said, “how are we to prepare?’’

“We don’t. But I can tell you this. Whatever it is, it will be magnificent!”

THE END.

(c) 2003

A Moment in Time

I wrote this story...or perhaps it's more of a vignette, in 2003 for a gift for a gentleman in honor of our first meeting. Sadly it didn't work out between us but I thought it's appropriate considering the time of year. I hope you like enjoy it!

Black Dove

A MOMENT IN TIME

Once upon a time last Winter where the morning's breath was caught in the wind and the sun illumination beaned across the azul sky, a Taino Princess ventured out from her kingdom of the Heights of Washington.

Her quest on this day was to leave her realm and journey to the heart of the Great City by the Mighty River, to see the Ancient Tree with thousands points of colored lights.

As the Princess approached she marveled at the simple beauty of this natural creation. Old beyond years that any mortal could count, the Great Tree stood proud and majestic as it survey it's dominion of the city. The lights, she mused, reminded her of the crystal-like stars that hung against a cobolt/ebony sky of her ancestors homeland. The event was the celebration of the gathering of her kinsmen and women during the time when the world became a century older.

She beheld the Great Tree as it began to dance to and forth, as if it heard the music of the trumpet holding Archangels who stood before it. Then a powerful gust of the Great Mystery's breath raced down the Valley of Fifth Avenue which caused the royal adventuress to seek warmth and shelter inside the Great Hall of Rockefeller.

It has been many years since she had walked through the peddlers market and gazed upon their exotic wares. Soon the Princess became weary so she sought out the makers of the carmel-colored nectar called 'coffee' from the people of the land of Starbucks.

As she sat, hands cupped around the heated container which helped warmed her physical frame, her eyes wandered over to the empty chair besides her.

Her thoughts voyaged back to the land who is named for She who is the Mother of the Universe. Where the sea kisses the earth, and where the Princess first met the Gentle/Alien Warrior with the fire-colored hair, mythical designs etched on his arms, and his dancing eyes.

His clan, the Warrior Class, were as old as the mountains and as noble and ancient as the bones of the first as his kind. His purpose for being in this sea-blessed land for a gathering of his kinsmen for he was their general.

She remembered the night that feasted on meat, drank ale and sang songs that told about ancient, honorable and brave deeds. She remembered how he regaled her with his tales of travel to far-off lands and the many curious natives he encountered there. But what she remembers most were his dancing eyes as he told his tales, and how he looked at her, seeing pass the flesh and into the spirit.

She remembers all this with a sigh and a smile.

Suddenly the chocolate-colored eyes of the Princess caught site of the ice-dancers who glided underneath the Great Tree, like living ornaments and she thought, "The Gentle One would enjoy this spectacle. The City has it's own life-force during the Season of Hope and Life. Perhaps I could regale him as he did me with all the wonders of my kingdom".

The Tanio Princess smiled at herself for this thought pleased her well. And so, as she raised the hot brew to her royal lips her mind's eye caught the site of her Gentle Warrior sitting next to her and smiling back...with his dancing eyes.

THE END

(c) 2003

Hello and Welcome!

This is my first attempt to write and keep a live journal so I trust you will be patience with me. I'm looking forward in sharing with you my musings (aka:stories) of my two favorite characters from the Buffyverse, Spike and Xander, plus some of my other writings from my own personal and inner muse.

I decided to post these stories now because I realize that I too have a voice that wished to be heard. I must admit I'm not as gifted a writer as others I've read like sexymermaid or glassdarklyuk, but I feel it's important to try...and so I have.

Please feel free to send me your thoughts and comments, I just ask you to be gentle with me. These stories were written awhile ago and only now are seeing the first light of day and with new eyes....yours.

Be Well,
Black Dove
